Juneteenth 2025 (Ottumwa, IA - Central Park)

The Juneteenth event was held at Central Park in Ottumwa, IA, on June 19, 2025. It was proudly hosted by Dr. Jeff Hendred, who helped bring the community together for this special celebration. There was a wonderful variety of vendors present, offering all kinds of unique and exciting items. The atmosphere was alive with the sounds of a DJ (DJ Taz) playing great music, delicious food stands serving mouthwatering dishes, and plenty of fun activities like bouncy houses and slides for the kids to enjoy. And of course, there was me, the photographer, capturing memories throughout the day. I managed to photograph many moments and also worked on making prints on site. While I couldn’t capture every single detail because I was busy taking pictures and making prints, I am truly happy and satisfied with the special moments I was able to preserve through my lens!

Buxton Puppet Show

The Marshallese Community Choir not only performed a beautiful song, but they also showcased an incredible and lively dance that captivated everyone!

Of course, I had my full professional portable photography setup with me. I was ready for anyone who wanted to stop by and have a beautiful professional family portrait taken for a great price! You receive an edited digital image along with an 8x10 print, delivered right on the spot! It was truly amazing meeting so many new and wonderful people during the process!

Also, a very special thanks to my sister and my mom for always being there and helping me out whenever I needed it! Their support means the world to me, and I truly couldn’t have done it without their constant encouragement and assistance!

The Ottumwa Municipal Band

The Ottumwa Municipal Band also delivered their amazing performance, skillfully closing out the show before everyone settled in to watch the movie. Thanks once again to Dr. Jeff Hendred for inviting me to be part of this wonderful event. I had a great time and will definitely be back next year!
