Setting Up The Session

Senior sessions are my absolute favorite! If I had to choose one niche in photography, then it’d definitely be seniors! I like to get to know the person I’m photographing. Your interests, your hobbies, etc. I love photographing seniors especially if they play a sport! Sports senior sessions is my specialty! Before the session, I always plan out how I will go about shooting the session. The location, your outfits, the lighting, the compositions, etc. Most of the time, I will have an assistant with me. Just know that I’ve been thinking about this session weeks, or even months in advance, because if you have a plan, things will go a lot smoother. There are times when I may have to improvise. Actually, a lot of times I have to improvise. It depends on you! Sometimes I may see something that I like, and I will try it out! Maybe change the angle, because angles are very important. I will make even the most non-photogenic person look absolutely amazing! I also will take your ideas. There were times when 90% of the session were your ideas! And I’m okay with that! At the end of the day, I will make sure that you’re absolutely in love with your senior portraits!

Photographing The Session

Now it’s time to shoot! My nerves are going crazy with excitement! This is my favorite part. Building the shot. Taking test shots. Checking which direction the light is going. Is it sunny out? We always make sure the sun is behind you. Or maybe it’s golden hour and you can use the sun as a key light? Maybe it’s a cloudy day and you wanted a golden hour session? I can imitate the sun with my lighting. I am a light master, but still learning everyday. I usually start with casual shots, and you will see the images as I take them. Making sure you like your facial expression! A genuine smile is always what I aim for. Your facial expressions will help tell the story. It will show how much you enjoyed not only being photographed, but the experience! Experience plays a major role. That’s what you will remember the most about your session with me… How I made you feel!
